Rutabagas are on our list of “must-grow” crops as a winter time staple. Easy to grow, stores well into late Spring, and is delicious, boiled and mashed with a little butter or olive oil and salt. The greens are edible too, but require a bit more cooking than kale. This variety has a cream-coloured interior, and a light, almost emerald green top and light base. Start seeds indoors in late May-June, and transplant outside when 1-2” high into fertile soil. Keep well watered until established and protect from pests for a few more weeks. Harvest in late Fall and eat or store away in a place that is cool and moist. Packages contain min. 75-100 seeds.
