Sal Dominelli— Sweet Rock Farm

Sal has been saving seeds for over twenty years, and has had a business of selling seeds since 2010. He grows 90% of the seeds listed here and trials new varieties every year. He has always been a passionate advocate of organic growing and has been certified with BCARA for several years. This past year he gave a pass to being certified organic… Why? With several different endeavours happening (seeds, veg, fruit, sheep, chickens, and horses) in two locations— yes we farms at two places!— the paperwork was unsustainable. We still farm organically and always will and welcome any questions about our farm practices. We are proud of what we do! Sal also enjoys fishing, hiking, and hanging out in his free time.

Gabriola Grown Specialty Cut Flowers

We want every gardener to grow their own cut flower garden! Our passion is promoting seasonal cut flower gardens across the islands in the Salish Sea and steering people away from the toxic, lifeless, imported conventional blooms that are clogging local florist shops and grocery stores! With a little love, care and attention to detail, all our seed selections will mature into a spectacular seasonal parade of fresh beauty, fragrance, texture, nectar, pollen and micro habitats for the little guys in our gardens! We are a three generation family farm specializing in growing unique varieties of cut flowers and foliage that thrive in our coastal environment. Our farm offers farmer-florist services for special events and weddings and a subscriptions CSA from April - September each year for Gabriola Islanders."

Watercliffe Permaculture Farm— Lisa Butler and Pollan Heath

Watercliff Permaculture Farm is a 3 acre market farm located on traditional Snuneymuxw Territory, what is now known as Gabriola Island, BC. We grow a diverse array of fruits, vegetables, berries, and eggs for our local farmers markets, our CSA, and local health food store. We are committed to growing regeneratively by planting as many trees and perennials as possible, integrating animals (currently chickens and ducks) and leaving the soil each season with more organic matter than the season before. We are excited to partner with Sweet Rock Farm in offering seeds. We have been saving seeds for our own farm for many years, but after the recent seed shortages, decided that saving seeds at a larger scale would be an important part of food security in our corner of the world.
